Replying to @holding__rivers People are trying to vault #abstraining for decades, but in all honesty it's beyond me that people think of #abs any differently than any other muscle. Why aren't you simply just dieting to reveal your biceps or chest then? They're already there right? Oh, you're trying to grow them? Guess what!? You can grow your abs too. Clearly not as big as some other much larger muscle groups due to smaller cross-sectional area they cover, but they can certainly become more developed, deeper, more separated and get that pop to them. Yes, same principles that are applied to other muscles are applied to abs too. You should train them like any other muscle with an emphasis on sufficient intensity and progressive overload. And YES you should train abs during bulk too because that's when a good chunk of hypertrophy adaptation occurs. Replying to @ialsolovebro A commonly used phrase and notion among uneducated bodybuilders. If a 15-20 year old has less visible muscles than a 40 year old, it's plain and simple because he carries less muscle and/or he carries more body fat. HC bodybuilders like throwing the phrase around when they want to sound smart or justify the lack of conditioning, but there's no physiological mechanism which makes muscles more "mature". Forward lean doesn't necessarily mean the bar path isn't straight. If the leaning occurs simultaneously to knee flexion; the bar will stay right where it supposed to. If someone comes off as assertive or arrogant, no matter how accurate what he's saying is; people will feel attacked and fight back.
