So, fun fact about me: I couldn’t tell you a single thing about the Crimean War or Victorian politics, but i can tell you who was sleeping with who (and how) in the 19th century. And that pretty much sums me up as a historian xx #history #victorianera #19thcenturyfashion #victorianfashion #historytok

A quick update! This year has been really difficult for trying to create content for a few different reasons: 1. I’ve been studying for my masters degree at Cambridge 2. I no longer feel inspired by royal content… For me, fashion history has always been about uncovering untold stories, and i want to start bringing you more of my personal research so that you can enjoy some new and unseen content. For years now I’ve been researching the 19th century demi-monde, to explore how women from working class backgrounds were able to achieve their own version of autonomy and freedom. Im going to keep posting some if this new content to see how it does, and hopefully bring back my love of posting! Rosie x

Replying to @Matman was Catherine Walters just somebody’s girlfriend? No… Almost all of Catherine’s ‘romances’ were arranged on a financial basis - this was her job! Without this income she would never have been able to play the important role in British political culture that she would in the 1870s-1880s. Anyway I love Catherine and the Pretty Horsebreakers and I will be speaking about them for tbe rest if time ♥️ #history #19thcentury #historytok #victorianera #theprettyhorsebreakers #myromanempire #catherinewalters
